Edmonton was a-rocking on Saturday night, October 24. BLUE WAVE Edmonton Chapter held its first FUN-Raiser Which was an absolute smash hit, sell-out. People were even phoning, trying to get tickets on the day of.
Tremendous fun was Had by all in the Alberta Avenue Community Center Hall. Although it was jam-packed with people, they managed to have a ton of fun with great food, 50/50 draw, multiple raffles and silent auction of so many items. The generosity and support of local businesses, along with that of everyone attending, was absolutely heart-warming to see.
Third Street Beat hip-hop dance group took the hall by storm with their amazingly professional dance moves. It was a sight to behold to see grandparents up out of their seats, trying to dance along and copying "the moves". Needless to say, the many youth in attendance were absolutely rape, getting involved in the inter-active presentation.
The evening's entertainment was also supported by the great local band, Rockin 'Ron and the Radiators packing the dance floor. Alyssa Hudson of BLUE WAVE performed a single of her own skit about bullying in school and dealing with the challenges of being overweight. She literally received a standing ovation from everyone present for her powerful piece. Plans are to have the skit and others available through the website for all to see, especially educators, so they can get ideas for what can be presented at an annual BLUE WAVE Day in the schools.
Stay tuned to the BLUE WAVE BULLETIN BOARD for more updates around the country, as they occur.
